Vanessa Hudgens x Avia

In 2019, Avia partnered with Vanessa Hudgens, an actress, singer, dancer, and fitness enthusiast, to launch a line of activewear that embodies her unique style. This collection was designed to be perfect for any exercise class, or, for those who prefer a more casual look, an ideal outfit for running errands while still looking fitness-ready. The line offers a balance of style and function, making the wearer feel connected to Hudgens, as if they were best friends from spin class.
The project was two-fold: it involved both brand identity and supporting fashion designers in creating this celebrity-designed athleisure collection. Avia engaged Highlife to develop the collection, and graphic design services were provided to craft a brand identity that reflected Vanessa Hudgens’ unique aesthetic and spirit. The project encompassed graphic design for brand identity development, hangtags, labels, and surface design direction, ensuring a cohesive and elevated look across all elements.

Brand Identity

Collaborating closely with the Design Director, Avia leadership, and with final approval from Vanessa Hudgens, a logo was developed for the collection that captured her energy and vibe. Colors were extracted from mood boards, the actor’s social media and press, and competitive research.
The project made use of graphic design principles, such as color theory and typography, to create a harmonious and visually appealing brand identity. A comprehensive brand kit was created, including a brand guide to ensure consistency in press and promotional materials. In addition to the brand identity, garment branding was designed, including hangtags, and interior and exterior labels, which were provided to Avia to be used by other licenses for the collection.

The Collection

Supporting and collaborating with the Design Director and Designer, the collection was launched. Original artwork was developed and the all-over textile print direction was guided throughout the collection.
Apparel graphics (printed on garment) were created and print techniques were pitched for selected pieces to align with the brand’s aesthetic.

Additionally, work was done in collaboration with overseas factories to create meeting samples. Once the program was approved, continued collaboration with production factories to ensure proper execution of the designs.

Through a collaborative process with Highlife and Avia, the result was a stylish, celebrity-designed athleisure collection with a thoughtfully crafted graphic design-focused brand identity. The cohesive branding, packaging, and textile designs successfully captured Vanessa Hudgens’ signature style, elevating the collection’s market appeal.
